Dal gives X a run X went up against a fired up Dalhousie Tiger squad at the Dalplex on Thursday and eked out a 77-72 win. Dal came out in this contest firing on all cylinders and posted 48 first half points (to 41 for the X-Men). X recovered to outscore Dal by a 36 to 24 margin in the second half for the win. While the game was close, there were a number of positives for the X-Men. The team pulled together in the second half and came out with a 'W' against a last-place Dal team that was highly motivated and looking to redeem its season with a win over the first place X-Men. Neil MacDonald had a strong offensive game for the X-Men posting 23 points on 7 of 8 field goals and 9 of 10 foul shots in only 28 minutes of play. Zach Russell contributed 12 points for the X-Men. Matt Brooks led Dal with 23 and former X-Man Mike Budreski contributed 19. On the positive side for this game X, which leads the AUBC in field goal percentage, had another good shooting game at almost 52%. As well, the X-Men out rebounded the Tigers 30-21. On the negative side, X committed 20 turnovers against only 9 assists for an unhealthy assists to turnover ratio of under .5 This win pushes the X-Men record to 17-2 on the season. In Coach K's 30 year tenure at X, he has led his squad to one perfect 20-0 regular season (2000-2001). His second best regular season tally has been 17-3. The blue and white have a chance to better this with a win in their final game on Saturday. X plays its final game of the season at home vs. the Cape Breton Capers on Saturday at 8 PM. This highly anticipated contest has no implications for AUS playoff seeding as both team have locked up first round byes. However, the X-Men should be fired up and looking to avenge a 22 point loss at the hands of the Capers in February. Should be another barnburner. Please note that there is no women's game on Saturday.
