X-Men roll over Acadia The X-Men continued their
winning ways vs. the AUBC opponents by rolling over the Acadia Axemen
80-62 in front of a big crowd at the Oland Centre. This was a game that the Blue and White
controlled from the opening tap. In the opening half, X led from the
first minute and built leads in the mid-teens. At the half, X led 41
to 30. The second half was more of the same. Acadia was able
to get to within 10 points on a couple of occasions but no closer.
Acadai was able to stay this close only due to the great offensive play of
first year Axeman Wayne Duncan, who had 25 of Acadia's 62 points.
X had a very balanced offensive attack.
Gary Gallimore was top scorer for X with 16 points on 5 of 7 field goals
(2 for 4 from 3 point range). Neil MacDonald had 15 points (7 of 9
field goals), a game-high 8 rebounds and 2 blocks. Jon Bell had 10
points to go with 6 boards. Tyler Richards also had 10 and
contributed 2 blocks. Ed Reynolds was solid with 10 points and Mike
Baxter kicked in 9. For the game, the X-Men shot 56.6% from the
floor and held Acadia to 33.3%. X out-rebounded Acadia 36-32.
With the win, X gets 4 points and is in
first place overall in the AUS with a 6-0 record and 18 points. X
plays next on Saturday Jan 15th when the Dal Tigers come to Antigonish.
